Community TV Network
This unique collaboration will partner the high school activists of Vote 16 Illinois, who seek to engage high school students on issues important to them, their families, their communities, and their future while advocating to lower the voting age to 16, with CTVN’s highly skilled and experienced high school students. The resulting video will be part of Vote 16’s youth civic engagement plan. Vote 16 is a dynamic organization initiated and run by high schoolers. CTVN will provide high school students who have been in our programs for several years and are capable of planning and executing a video and multimedia project of this scope. Using CTVN’s equipment and production studio, these CTVN digital media makers will work with Vote 16 to plan and film a series of interviews that will create a compelling argument for lowering the voting age to 16. The video will also serve as a promotional, outreach, engagement, and recruiting tool to inspire and empower high school students to join Vote 16 Illinois and become engaged in the campaign to lower the voting age and in local campaigns that affect their lives, futures, and dreams. To this end, CTVN and Vote 16 videographers will also interview elected officials, other civic engagement organizations (such as Generation Citizen), teachers, and leaders of issue campaigns of importance to Illinois’ youth. While Theresa Campagna from CTVN will provide professional oversight, this will be a youth led, planned, created, and completed project.
